Guardian ad Litem

What is a Guardian ad Litem?

The state of Connecticut appoints a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) to act as a neutral third party to represent the best interests of a child during divorce or custody matters. A Guardian ad Litem investigates the facts of the case to see what arrangement will be best for the child. A GAL may be appointed by either the judge or a parent who may request a GAL be appointed.

What does a Guardian ad Litem do?

A GAL testifies based on the emotional, psychological, and physical needs of the child in order to help the children’s needs be represented.

Lanier Legal Group provides GAL services to help support children during a custody or divorce case.
