Relocation

What happens when a custodial parent wants to relocate?

When a custodial parent wants to relocate, they must provide evidence that the move is for a legitimate reason and is in the best interests of the children involved. Some factors that are considered include:

-each parent’s reasoning for supporting or opposing the relocation

-the child’s quality of relationship with each parent

-the possible enhancement of educational and economic factors as a result of the relocation.

A lawyer can assist in either opposing or supporting a modification of a custodial agreement, and can help enforce your legal rights in court.
